| The BMW Z4 is a great improvement on the Z3 with more characteristics and a less feminine feel. However when compared to the likes of the Porsche Boxster it is not quite the refined out and out sports car. |

The Z4 replaced the Z3 with a manlier feel to its design, the engine is positioned in the front with options of a 2.5 or 3.0 litre and there is a rear-wheel drive layout making it more like a sports roadster.
The BMW Z4 is now more fun to drive with wider wheels and a sports suspension. There is also a traction control option to handle tailslides. The Dynamic Drive Control adjusts the reaction and feel of the steering.
If you were comparing the Porsche Boxster with the BMW Z4 it would be less impressive than the Boxster due to a lack of accurate and communicative steering.
The BMW Z4 is better all round than the Z3 with a more solid feel, better build and finish along with a stiff structure.
Taking the roof down is quick and neat with a good quality fabric hood. When the roof is down the rollover hoops are visible which assist in case of accidents.
The Safety rating on the car was lower than expected, despite many new modern safety features. |
